Arrival Day

Normally you will be met at Lisbon airport and driven to your guest house/hotel in the Sintra area (approx. 45 minutes). Upon arrival you will have time to settle in and make sure you have everything for the first 3 days of riding in this region.

Day 1

After breakfast you will head out for your first day of riding. Typically, on our first day we start with some warm-up trails to become one with the bike and to adjust the itinerary to be best suited for the whole group. After a full day of riding, laughing and sweating, we will head back to the accommodation.

Day 2

Based on the first day, we start exploring more of the different combinations of daily tours available to us. After a few runs in the mornings we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant or a scenic spot for a picnic. Depending on your energy level we will keep riding for a few more hours or take it easy and enjoy some time by the beach.

Day 3

We will keep exploring the trails in the Sintra region. One of the days might be spent in Lisbon City to explore the local trails around there as well as some urban riding (a great experience to see more of Lisbon). In the afternoon we will jump on a train and head for either Algarve or The North.

Day 4

After a good night sleep and a hearty breakfast in the new guest house, we'll head out and explore the new region. We will have plenty in store for you and your group. After another full day of riding in the new area we will head back to the guest house for some relaxing time.

Day 5-6

We will keep exploring the trails in the new region and depending on the level of your group we will tackle the more challenging terrain or head for the smooth and flowy single tracks available. If you prefer to have a "rest day", there is also the option of adding a day of surfing, climbing or any other outdoor activity readily available for us in these regions.

Departure Day

Today we will take it easy in the morning, round off the trip and return back to the airport in Porto.

TRIP ENQUIRY

During your mountain bike adventure in Sintra & the North, we normally stay in charming Portuguese guest houses, ideally located close to the trails. The specific guest houses will be determined upon booking your trip. Rest assured that we always will provide you with comfortable accommodations and an authentic Portuguese experience, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the culture and make lasting memories during your stay. Whether you're seeking a cozy, home-like atmosphere or a more luxurious setting, we'll help you find the perfect accommodation to suit your needs and preferences.

TRIP ENQUIRY

Given the variety of the terrain, we have a lot of opportunities to cater to all levels. To make sure you enjoy this holiday to its full extent we recommend you are comfortable on your bike in both forest, rocky and technical terrain.

For the MTB tours the trails are partially accessed by shuttle, but in order to reach our favourite trails we typically pedal and push for shorter sections of up to 45 minutes.

Skill Level Recommended:

Intermediate

You have ridden enduro and/or downhill mountain biking at least 10 times and master root sections and rock gardens as long as it's not too steep. You still handle the steeper trails while they are not too technical.

Fitness Level Recommended:

The Striving Prospect

You can pedal uphill 1 hour per day and climb 300m during consecutive days riding. You don't mind steep uphill climbs for about 10 to 15 minutes at the time. Downhill you happily ride up to 3000 verticals per day. You exercise on average 2 times per week.

Portugal Mountain Biking Adventures

Located on the western edge of the Iberian Peninsula, Portugal boasts a diverse landscape, featuring rugged coastlines, sandy beaches, lush forests, and rolling hills.  From technical single tracks, challenging downhill runs, to rides through the beautiful countryside or along the coastline, there is something for every mountain bike rider to enjoy.  With the help of our local guides, we provide mountain bike tours in proximity to both Lisbon and Porto.

Lisbon might be known for its cobbled streets and vibrant city life, but just beyond the urban buzz lies a surprisingly rich mountain biking scene. The nearby Monsanto Forest Park is a local gem, offering fast, flowy trails with roots, berms, and natural drops, all within pedaling distance from the city centre.

Just a short drive west of Lisbon lies Sintra, a true crown jewel for mountain biking in Portugal. This UNESCO World Heritage region blends mystical forests, technical descents, and ridgelines that drop all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. Trails wind through the lush oak forests and granite rock gardens of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, offering everything from winding single tracks through the rainforest to technical rock gardens. Riding in and around Lisbon and Sintra means you can blend world-class trails with coastal sunsets, local wine bars, and historic charm. Whether you’re up for a mellow morning loop followed by a pastel de nata, or a full-day enduro mission ending with a swim at the beach, this region delivers the perfect mix of nature, culture, and trail variety.

While much of the spotlight falls on the coast, Northern Portugal is quietly carving out its place as a top-tier mountain biking destination. Just inland from Porto, you’ll find wild granite ridgelines, natural forest singletracks, and hidden trails that wind through ancient stone villages and vineyards. It’s a region that blends raw nature with rich culture, where you can pedal past roaming horses in Peneda-Gerês, then toast the ride with a glass of Vinho Verde in the Minho Valley.

From the Atlantic hills of Viana do Castelo to the untouched landscapes around Terras de Bouro, the terrain is varied and full of character. Expect a mix of flow, tech, and natural features like creek crossings, stone slabs, and open viewpoints. Northern Portugal is still off most riders’ radar, which means quieter trails, local hospitality, and a deeper connection to the land. Ride here and you’ll quickly understand why it’s one of Portugal’s best-kept secrets.
