Ideally located on the quaint Italian Riviera, you will find Finale Ligure, the home of the Enduro World Series. A buzzing town, right by the sea which has grown into a must visit mountain bike destination by mountain bike enthusiasts. It is no surprise that mountain bike riders from across the globe pilgrimage here. The area boasts some of the world's best mountain bike trails as well as the most stunning mountain biking scenery with the Mediterranean Sea as a backdrop. It is also the home to the infamous focaccia bread and Pesto alla Genovese, a delicacies we often indulge in.

Finale Ligure have some very known "must ride" classics that we love riding but what's even better are all the secret spots tucked away in the slightly quieter areas. Our local guides will take you in the 4x4 Landrover Defender beyond the valleys closest to Finale Ligure, to explore the hidden trails loved by the local riders.

Finale Ligure offers fantastic variety of trails for all different levels, ranging from perfectly shaped bike park style runs, technical rock sections to long smooth single trails with rolling features.

TRIP ENQUIRY

Arrival day

Arrive at the airport and be greeted by one of our representatives who will drive you to your hotel in Finale Ligure. Get set-up and check that all your gear is in order and ready for your backcountry adventure.

Day 2

One full day of Jeep assisted mountain biking with access to Finale Ligure's secret backcountry trails. We start the trip with a few warm-up laps in the Finale Ligure region and explore our local favourites. Spend the night in Finale Ligure.

Day 3

Once we are all familiar with our bikes we will start our journey and head deep into the backcountry to the valley behind Finale Ligure (around Bardineto). This evening we will stay in a B&B or guest house in the countryside.

Day 4

We move further west into the Castelvecchio and Toirano area. This evening we will be staying in a mountain hut at around 1,500 meters.

Day 5

Today we will ride around Nava, Uppega and Viozene (close to the border of France). This evening we will be staying in another mountain hut at around 2,200 meters.

Day 6

Ride more backcountry trails in the area of Molini di Triora. At the end of this day we normally transfer back to Finale Ligure to finish of the trip. There is also an option to continue one more day towards Sospel in France or stay the final night around Molini di Triora/San Remo instead.

Day 7

Continue the trip and ride more backcountry trails in the area close to Sospel. Either return back to Finale Ligure in the afternoon/evening or stay the night in this area.

Departure day

Normally a relaxed morning with breakfast before we finish the trip transfer back to the airport.

TRIP ENQUIRY

During the Ligurian Adventure you will be staying in a mix of Hotels, B&B and mountain huts depending on the destination and availability. We normally start the trip in Finale Ligure and end the trip in either Sospel (close to Nice) but depending on your arrival/departure airport we can adjust the itinerary to end up closer to Finale Ligure should you fly in and out of Genova.

Finale Ligure offers biking for all kinds of levels but for our exploration adventures we recommend that you are an advanced rider to enjoy all the secret trails we plan to show you.

Skill Level Recommended:

Advanced

Roots, rocks, drops and tight switchbacks are no match for you even in steep and exposed terrain. You feel confident in riding longer trails with sustained technical features as well as handling some exposed sections with no-fall zones.

Fitness Level Recommended:

The Striving Prospect

You can pedal uphill 1 hour per day and climb 300m during consecutive days riding. You don't mind steep uphill climbs for about 10 to 15 minutes at the time. Downhill you happily ride up to 3000 verticals per day. You exercise on average 2 times per week.

Arrive at the airport and be greeted by one of our representatives who will drive you to our hotel in Finale Ligure. Get set-up and check that all your gear is in order and ready for your next three days of riding.

Day 1 - 3

Three full days of Jeep assisted mountain biking with access to Finale Ligure's secret backcountry trails. We start the trip with a few warm-up laps of the classics, such as The Rollercoaster, Kill Bill and X-Men trail. Once we are all familiar with our bikes we will head into the backcountry to explore Finale Ligure's hidden trails and local favourites.

Let's be honest, Italy has great mountain biking but the food is almost as important. We will stop for lunch at different local favourites to enjoy the best local cuisine. Each day is ends with an apres-bike drink somewhere in the bustling centre of Finale Ligure , by the beach or maybe in the charming old town, Finale Borgo.

Departure day

Normally a relaxed morning with breakfast followed by a morning swim for those who want to before we finish the trip transfer back to the airport. Should you have an evening flight or arrive by your own car, there is a possibility to add one additional day of biking before heading back home in the afternoon/evening.

Hotel San Pietro Palace in Finale Ligure is perfectly situated right by the sea, only a few steps away from the main plaza. The building dates back to the 17th Century and has recently been transformed into, what we believe, the ultimate bike hotel. With each of our rooms overlooking the ocean and a secure dedicated bike room, it is not unusual to be excited to return back to the hotel after a long day of riding.

Hotel Medusa is a family run bike hotel on the seaside promenade in Finale Ligure. With its great hospitality and great location, staying at Hotel Medusa will be a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The hotel offers various room options from single rooms to family apartments catered to your specific needs.

Finale Ligure offers biking for all kinds of levels but we recommend that you are at least an intermediate to advanced rider to enjoy all the secret trails we plan to show you.

Skill Level Recommended:

Intermediate

You have ridden a enduro and/or downhill mountain bike at least 10 times and master root sections and rock gardens as long as it's not too steep. You still handle the steeper trails while they are not too technical.

Fitness Level Recommended:

The Happy Amateur

You can pedal your bike uphill at least 30 minutes per day and climb 150m during several consecutive days. Downhill you can ride 1500 vertical meters per day before the notorious cramp makes an entrance. You exercise on average at least once per week.
